NEW YEAR – NEW YEARNINGS

I entered 2020 feeling excited about the fact that it was the start of a new decade. I was looking forward to unprecedented breakthroughs and blessings. Little did I know that a vicious virus would turn my world, indeed the entire world, upside down!

I ended 2020 feeling somewhat optimistic. After all, God is still God, and I am still his child, and his thoughts towards me (good thoughts, peaceful thoughts, protective and loving thoughts) remain unchanged.

I cannot help but enter 2021 with mixed feelings. Appreciation for my past. Concern for my present circumstances. Hope for my future. Along with irrepressible yearnings for God’s miraculous intervention in my life, in the body of Christ, within the nations.

Dear friend in Christ, how did you leave 2020? Was it with fear and pessimism, or faith and a purposeful perspective?

One verse of scripture that has always been a tremendous comfort to me during difficult times is Psalm 31:7-8:

…You have known my soul in adversities,

And have not shut me up in the hand of the enemy;

You have set my feet in a wide place.

Allow me to encourage you today. No matter what has already happened, no matter what happens down the line, God is in complete control. And if you have committed your life into his tender care, then your good times, your bad times, your normal (or new-normal) times are in his most capable and creative hands.
