Reviving Dead Dreams

Build your own dreams, or someone else will hire you to build theirs.

If you can dream it, you can achieve it.

When you cease to dream you cease to live.

Malcolm Forbes

Do you have a long-standing dream, desire or aspiration that lies dormant, seems impossible, even dead?

Do you have a secret longing in your heart which you have cherished but despair of it ever coming to pass?

Allow me to encourage you today.

First, let’s have a look at an incredible vision that a man of God once saw:

The hand of the Lord came upon me and brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones.

Then He caused me to pass by them all around, and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and indeed they were very dry.

And He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” So I answered, “O Lord God, You know.”

Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!

Thus says the Lord God to these bones: “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live.

I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you; and you shall live. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.” ’ ”

So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to bone.

Indeed, as I looked the sinews and the flesh came upon them, and the skin covered them over; but there was no breath in them.

Also He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.” ’ ”

So I prophesied as He commanded me, and breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army.

(Ezekiel 37:1-10 NKJV)

I don’t think you can get much drier, or lifeless, or impossible of resuscitation than a valley of dry bones. And yet in Ezekiel’s vision, the miraculous happened. Those dry bones knitted themselves together, took on flesh, received the breath of God and came to life!

The same can happen for you. The same can happen for your dreams.

You can prophesy to those desires and longings which you’ve buried within your heart, which have been dead for so long, you’ve now given up hope. You no longer believe they can live. You no longer look for them to come to pass.

Ok, so they are lying in the valley of Discarded Dreams and the only hope for such desiccated bones is a supernatural miracle. Well, pray and ask Father God for one!

See those dreams (your dreams), put on sinew and flesh and receive the miraculous life of God until they move into the realm of possibility, into the realm of reality. As the Bible tells us, faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not yet seen. (Hebrews 11:1)

Regularly speak to yourself about those things for which you are earnestly believing God to bring to pass. Ever heard the saying: “confession brings possession”?

Now please don’t misunderstand me. I am not advocating the “name it and claim it” concept, often associated with what some people refer to as the “prosperity gospel”.

I am referring to Jesus’ own words.

Need biblical evidence to support this? Here it is!

… “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain [of impossibility] ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”

(Mark 11:22-24 NKJV – NB: the addition in brackets and emphasis in bold is mine).

If God has placed a desire, or a dream in your heart, then I believe that he wants you to have it, he wants you to achieve it. He simply requires that you have faith in him and that you demonstrate this faith with your works (i.e. with prayer and appropriate action).

Do you have dead dreams and desires that require spiritual resuscitation? Then commit them afresh into God’s hands. Ask him to breathe his life into them, to direct and bless your efforts. I can tell you from first-hand experience that he will cause your aspirations, your desires and dreams to come to pass, in accordance with his will.

Purpose-driven believer, have a blessed weekend!

Best wishes,

Carol (aka Lady Cee)
