Supercharge Your Self-Talk!

Did you know that your habitual self-talk has a lot to do with whether you feel consistently healthy, happy, self-confident, and successful?

Yes? No?

Okay, let’s talk about affirmations.

Are they biblical? YES!

God said “I AM that I AM!

And Jesus said:

  • I am the bread of life,
  • I am the Good Shepherd
  • I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life

So, should we as Christ followers, as purpose-driven believers and dream-achievers make similar confessions?

Absolutely!

Didn’t Jesus tell us that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world?

So, my dear friend, tell me, just what have you been repeatedly speaking over yourself?

I trust you are not saying anything along the lines of the following: I am too tired, too young, too old, too inexperienced, too set in my ways to change now etc., etc. But if you are guilty of engaging in negative self-talk over yourself, may I encourage you to put a stop to this NOW?

May I encourage you to speak God’s Word over yourself instead of making negative confessions, because the Word of God contains supernatural, life-giving power. Furthermore, God’s Word is truth and is able to set you free!

Now, when you first start using affirmations, it’s natural to feel you are parroting untruths but keep going, after a while something changes. If you don’t quite believe what you are saying about yourself initially, please persevere, you will soon reap the benefits.

Hal Elrod (author of The Miracle Morning) explains how this happens:

You can use affirmations to start programming yourself to be confident and successful in everything you do, simply by repeatedly telling yourself who you want to be, what you want to accomplish, and how you are going to accomplish it. With enough repetition, your subconscious mind will begin to believe what you tell it, act upon it, and eventually manifest it in your reality.

Now, if you are someone given to negative self-talk, if you’ve been beating yourself up about past failures, if you’ve given up hope about accomplishing your goals and achieving your dreams, why not try using affirmations. And if you have tried to do so in the past but felt it didn’t work, try again.

Affirmations can set a standard for who you ought to be or who you desire to be. Make them daily – first thing in the morning and if you have the time (or remember) last thing at night.

Now, if you are stuck for ideas, here are a few simple affirmations you may use to start off:

  • I am a diligent and productive businesswoman/employee
  • I am confident and capable
  • I am caring and compassionate
  • I am filled with God’s wisdom and capable of making wise decisions
  • I am a purpose-driven achiever.

Wishing you all a peaceful, productive, and self-affirming week.
