Stephen R. Covey, author of the highly acclaimed book 7 Habits of Highly Effective People observes that an individual’s path towards greatness lies not in focusing solely on the success of self but is achieved by serving others.
As purpose-driven believers and aspiring dream-achievers we should pay heed to God’s Word which advises:
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.
Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
(Philippians 2:3-4 NKJV)
and
we should also emulate John the Baptist who declared:
He [Christ] must increase, but I must decrease.
(John 3:30 NKJV)
SELF SCRUTINY:
- Are you serving others with your gift, talent and abilities?
- Are you as keen to build the confidence and reputation of others, as you are your own?
- Have you toppled that edifice?
Purpose-driven believers, I wish you a productive and God-glorifying week.
