Lady Cee’s Creative Challenge – 7

Hello people,

We are coming towards the end of this month and therefore the end of my creative challenge. I hope you have been enjoying these particular posts.

Isn’t it amazing what you can “see”, yeah what creative thoughts can be sparked once you put your mind to it?

Even if you did not wish to participate in this challenge by sharing your ideas, I do hope that you’ve tried the exercise for yourself and found something useful, even inspirational as a result.

Anyway, here’s what I’d like to share with you today.

As I study the above scenario, I turn my attention to what is happening beneath the woman in this picture.

If you look closely, the area between the two structures representing 2017 and 2018, is taken up by the sea and an island.

In literature, the sea is often a metaphor for sorrow, sadness or troubles.

In the Bible, we are told of a time when Jesus was asleep in the boat whilst a storm raged and the sea became turbulent, causing the disciples to cry out in fear.

The woman in the picture seems almost oblivious to what lies beneath her. She occupies and operates within a higher realm. This says to me that this woman has decided not to allow her problems, or her past to interfere with where she is aiming to go. As mentioned in my previous post (Creative Challenge 6), this woman is forward looking and future-focussed.

You will note that the body of water in our challenge image appears calm.

In the biblical account mentioned above, Jesus spoke to the wind and the waves and they became calm under his authority and command.

I believe that this image of a calm sea beneath the woman in the picture reflects the quality of her prayer life and her relationship with God. They are both at a level where she is aware that no matter what happens, God is in complete control.

Below her may lie the sea of uncertainty but she is too busy looking towards her dreams, too busy looking at the one who has the power to guide her towards her destiny, to allow those uncertainties to seriously hamper or halt her progress.

And whilst I’m thinking along these lines, the following scripture came to mind:

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

(Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV)

Again, as previously mentioned, when you examine the above scenario, you will notice an island. In his poem, No Man is an Island, John Donne (a metaphysical poet), uses the metaphor of an island to say that as human beings, as a society, we are impacted by whatever we do. Our acts of commission, even of omission, affect someone else.

I therefore see the woman in our challenge image as someone who is focussed, yes, upon achieving her dreams and goals, upon fulfilling her destiny but, she also realises that in pursuing these things, there can be no greater joy or satisfaction than using her abilities, skills and resources to serve God and bless others.

What say you?

Challenge questions:

  • What do you see?
  • How are you influencing the lives of others?

Lady Cee’s Creative Challenge – 5

Today’s post will focus on what I see as this woman’s diligent and ongoing preparation for her future… for the realisation of her dreams.

First and foremost you will note that she wears no shoes. As soon as I realised this my mind went to the scene in Exodus 3:1-5 when Moses stood before the burning bush. He was instructed to take off his shoes, as he was standing upon holy ground.

The fact that this woman is not wearing any shoes, symbolises to me that she is walking in the “fear of the Lord” i.e. she desires her deep respect and reverence for God and the principles of his kingdom, to direct and influence her life.

Working upwards, I see that this woman is not casually attired. She looks suitably smart. She is dressed for success. Her outfit is symbolic of the SMART* goals she has set, which will propel her towards her desired level of success. Her outfit bears the heavenly design label “Garments of Praise” and enables her to overcome periods of despair or discouragement.

Next we note that this woman is wearing glasses. I believe this signifies clarity of vision. Motivational speakers often encourage us to “see” where it is we desire to go, to visualise ourselves achieving our goals. Glasses are normally worn to correct our vision. As a born-again child of God, I now have the capacity to “see” with the eyes of faith. Why faith? Because faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen!

Last (but not least), I see that this woman’s hair has been tied back in a neat, orderly way. In the Bible, hair represents a person’s separation or consecration to God. Remember Samson? I believe it also represents spiritual strength.

And so I see a strong, disciplined and focused woman of God, who prepares herself mentally, emotionally and spiritually, so she can experience ongoing personal development and significant success.

Challenge question:

  • What do you see?
  • What are you doing to increase God-focused awareness and spiritual strength?

* Goals which are:

Specific

Measurable

Attainable

Realistic

Time-bound

Lady Cee’s Creative Challenge – 4

I trust you are enjoying my musings and that you are even beginning to see this creative challenge with new eyes.

I hope you are placing yourself within the above scenario and visualising the goals you’ve set for yourself… the dreams you’ve cherished in your heart. And I sincerely hope you are striving towards becoming a bigger, better you.

Now for today’s post – what do I see?

I see someone who is prepared.

Jim Rohn  has said that it is better to be prepared to meet opportunities, rather than for an opportunity to come your way and find you unprepared.

Whenever I imagine myself in this scenario, I am placing myself there within the context of being a woman of God and a committed disciple of Christ.

So, as a woman of God, as a follower of Christ, how can I prepare myself for the unknown?

How can I prepare myself for future opportunities?

How can I prepare myself to achieve my aspirations?

How can I bridge the gap between who I was last year and whom I need to be to achieve my dreams and goals this year?

How can I bridge that gap, so I can realise the full potential of whom God has called me to be?

In my next post, I’ll elaborate further on what I see in this challenge picture, regarding this woman’s preparation.

Challenge question:

  • What do you see?
  • Are you preparing yourself for future opportunities?

Lady Cee’s Creative Challenge – 3

Hello dear readers,

Today let me reveal another aspect of what I see when I look at this image.

I see…

A chasm between this woman’s place of achievement in 2017 and what is required of her in terms of personal development throughout 2018.

And so I ask myself, what will bridge that gap?

What will enable this person in the picture (me or you) to leap over any preconceived, or unforeseen obstacles?

How can this woman (how can you or I) reach that higher ground?

Notwithstanding the above, I also see an individual who has the stamina, the mental, physical and spiritual fitness to move forward purposefully… to maintain progress… to achieve success.

Challenge questions:

  • What do you see?
  • Are you aiming to bridge that gap between who you were in 2017 and whom you desire to be in 2018?

PS: Are you familiar with the phrase “gap analysis”? If interested in learning more, please click here

Lady Cee’s Creative Challenge – 2

Today I want to share another aspect of what I see when I look at this image and visualise myself as the woman in the picture.

I see someone who is dissatisfied with maintaining the status quo. I see someone who has accomplished some of her goals in 2017 but who does not want to remain the same person, or operate at the same spiritual level. She does not want to rest on her laurels. She does not wish to stagnate.

So her dreams and expectations for 2018 are bigger. They are perhaps greater than her current capabilities. She realises it is not by might or by power but by the Spirit of God that she will be able to change from glory to glory into the likeness of God’s Son.

She realises that despite the challenges ahead of her, she can do all things necessary to grow, to develop, to move towards her God-ordained destiny. She knows she can do this through her relationship with Christ, who strengthens her.

She realises it will take vision, it will take planning, it will take faith and it will take ACTION to reach this higher ground by the end of December 2018.

Well, I’m happy to share mine. But to whet your appetites, and hopefully spark your interest, I’m going to share this piecemeal, rather than in one whole post.

Here’s today’s offering.

When I look at this image I see someone (why not me, why not you?), who is striding towards bigger and better things.

Bigger opportunities.

Bigger dreams.

Perhaps greater responsibilities.

I see determination and courage. I see someone who has the vision and the potential to take that quantum leap into the unknown. Someone who is forward-looking (not backward-glancing).

I see an image of complete focus and readiness.

What do you see?
