About

ABOUT ME:

I’ve finally had to admit defeat.

Until some time last year, I did not want to know about blogging or social networks. I felt I could get along in life quite well thank you very much without the need to join online communities looking for virtual friends.

Don’t get me wrong – I am not against progress and I am not opposed to change (at least no more so than the average person). I just didn’t feel it was necessary. So whilst I belligerently buried my head in the sand, technological advances continued to swagger its own sweet way forward and left me completely behind!

Now, having peered through the dim fog of my foolish obstinacy, I see the light! And so I‘ve decided to venture into unknown territory, to dip my toes in the blogging ocean and learn to negotiate its currents. This time I’m choosing to swim with the tides of change, instead of against!

My name is Carol.  Thanks for doing me the honour of paying a visit.  I hope you like what you see and enjoy what you read. Do get involved.  As you engage with me and other users, I trust you’ll leave encouraged, inspired and motivated. So don’t be a stranger – come back often.

Au revoir!

ABOUT THIS SITE:

Are you familiar with Rick Warren’s book: The Purpose Driven Life? It’s been described as “a blueprint for Christian living in the 21st century”.

In chapter 3 of this work, Warren highlights several negative reasons that can be a driving force behind people’s lives. Having recognised some of those reasons featured in my own life, I decided that as a woman of God, I don’t want to be driven  by fear, or a desire for approval, or some other unworthy reason. I decided if I am going to be driven by anything, then let it be by God’s pre-ordained purpose for me. Hence the title of this site: A Purpose-Driven Achiever.

Now whilst I seek to motivate myself to move from an unproductive existence to a fruitful, purpose-driven life and, whilst I desire success and significance as pre-destined for me by my Father God, I am mindful of that verse of scripture in Philippians 2:4: Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. My heartfelt desire therefore, is to encourage others to come along with me on this journey. Are you ready? Then let’s go!

    1. At least you are on FB. The only social site I am on (so far) is LinkedIn and WordPress appears to have problems connecting with it.
Anyway, will take my time and decide what to do about adding FB and twitter! Thanks for sharing @stretchingyourfaith.

My first impression- beautiful Layout and colour. I think my biggest problem still lies with Twitter. I don’t even know how to go about it. Am pretty good with other social media except twitter, Is that not surprising?
Anyway, time to dig into your blog.

    1. Dear fellow-blogger (I remember your name beginning with I but did not want to spell it incorrectly), thank you for dropping by so promptly.
And thank you for your feedback. I don’t quite understand your reference to twitter but believe me I am in the same boat, so no I am not surprised. I call myself a social media virgin.

  5. I fought off Facebook for awhile, too. I gave in thinking it’d be the best way to keep up with old high school friends, since I’ve moved since then. I steered clear of blogging even longer, but now I really enjoy it. It’s nice to meet you, and I hope we continue to connect through the blogosphere. 😉

  6. I also started out reluctantly . . .but bloggersville can serve as mission if used properly. I’m learning. My audience is similar to yours more than believers I am hoping to attract culturally curious non-believers more than anyone else. I relied on another culture; a man-made system of values as my source of truth and it was a huge mistake.

  7. Carol,
It is an absolute pleasure in meeting you! I look forward to spending more time on your blog. I too am new to the world of blogging and I’m slowly getting back into the world of social media. I have a Twitter and Instagram account. I’ve recently re-created a Facebook account although I’m hesitant on using it fully. Here’s to blogging and being a little more social than we’re used to!

  13. Hi Carol, nice to meet you here via a like of yours on a recent comment of mine.
I love your About section especially your analogy of dipping your toes in the blogging ocean whilst navigating its currents thereby swimming with the tides of change instead of against.
The reading from the Phillipians rounding things off.
I look forward to reading your posts and please take care during these challenging times 🙏❤️💁🏻‍♀️

    1. Dear Margaret,
Apologies for this much belated reply. I took a break from blogging for a few weeks.
I am so glad you enjoyed my About page and thank you so much for telling me which aspects you enjoyed. As a writer, it’s always encouraging to hear that my efforts have not gone un-noticed. I don’t remember how I rounded off my About page, so will have to go back and read.
Thank you so much for your loving concern. I wish you and your loved ones God’s divine protection during this unsettling season with the Covid-19 virus.
      Take care! 🙂 xx

      1. Hi Ladycee, thank you for your reply. I appreciate from experience how difficult it is to keep up with blogging. More recently I have been decluttering at home and preparing for the winter so I feel guilty at not keeping up with the reader however I try my best and that is all I can do.
Glad I stimulated you to revisit your About page.
God bless to you and your family. 🙂

Thanks for getting back to me. Guess what? I am decluttering our home too!
Yes. I know all about feeling guilty about letting down our blog followers. As you say, we can only try to do our best.
        Have a great weeked! 🙂
