Every day I have an opportunity to live my life, or loathe it. And I have this opportunity each day I awake, because I have God’s blessed breath within me. [tweet this]
About a year ago, I was listening to a motivational speaker when I heard him say: Every day is a new opportunity.
At first when I heard this I was a bit dismissive and cynical. I thought: EVERY day does not come with opportunities!
I thought this because I saw “opportunity” as a favourable situation, or an amazing break given to you, so you can succeed in life, or accomplish your dream, such as someone blessing you with money, or opening a significant door.
But then I began to ponder what he had said and soon came to a different conclusion.
Each day I do have the opportunity to be thankful. To appreciate my salvation afresh. To appreciate and show love to the people around me – husband, family, friends, work colleagues and neighbours.
Every day I have an opportunity to be better (thought-wise and conduct-wise), than I was the day before. I have an opportunity to be joyful instead of moping, to be industrious instead of wasting time, to be supportive instead of being selfish, to be loving instead of being condemning or critical, to be merciful instead of unforgiving.
Every day I have the opportunity to exercise my God-given authority and avail myself of my God-given resources in order to reign in life, in order to glorify him, in order to pursue my destiny.
Every day I have the opportunity to exercise faith, or accept failure, to grow closer to God and others, or to become estranged.
Every day I have an opportunity to live my life, or loathe it. And I have this opportunity each day I awake, because I have God’s blessed breath within me.
So what am I doing with these blessed opportunities? Am I making the most of them?
Are you?
With love,
Carol (aka Lady Cee)
