When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, [or woman] I put away childish things.
1 Corinthians 13:11
One good thing about writing posts to encourage and motivate others, is that they always speak back to me. That’s why every now and again, I like to review my old posts and take stock of my life. Further, I also believe that if we want to be people of integrity, we must do as a well-known saying demands—we must practice what we preach!
Since making a commitment to seriously pursue my dreams, since actively working towards being a purpose-driven believer and achiever, I’ve realised I need to change. I need to mature.
I’ve realised that I not only have to ditch negative or childish thoughts and behaviour, such as: What’s the point? I don’t feel like it, I’ll start tomorrow; I also need to be faithful and continue doing what I’ve purposed in my heart to do regardless of obstacles, regardless of whether there are accolades or brickbats… of whether my efforts are noticed and celebrated, or seemingly ignored or rebuffed.
Satan will seek to distract us with negative or oppressive thoughts. And we ourselves can sabotage our own success through self-delusion or procrastination.
Thank God for the Holy Spirit! I’m so grateful Jesus sent him to come alongside me and help me. He is not only my comforter, counsellor, advocate, source of strength and standby, he is also my mentor, my creative partner and cheerleader.
Purpose-driven believer, if you want to see significant change in your life this year, if you want to rise to a higher level of success, then are you willing to examine your attitudes and behaviour?
- Do you recognise those areas of habitual weakness which prevent you from achieving your dreams?
- Do you have someone to whom you can turn during times of discouragement, who will speak honestly into your life and help you get back on track?
- Do you have what it takes to CHANGE so you can achieve your goals?
Purpose-driven achiever I wish you a blessed and super-productive week.
