My Thinking Corner
(NB: Lady Cee aims to participate in this blog challenge on alternate Tuesdays)
Today I’d like to focus our thoughts on COURAGE.
Whenever I think about this word I think of it in the context of bravery. The hero who battles all odds in order to win his girl, conquer his enemy, or face his fears. I think of men like Hercules or Kunta Kinte, in Roots.
So I was surprised when I consulted my dictionary to learn of another meaning:
cheerfulness or resolution in coping with setbacks (Chambers 21st Century Dictionary).
As purpose-driven believers, we need to develop both a courageous spirit and a joyful attitude that enables us to get up when we are knocked down, or to press on despite discouragement.
With the above definition in mind, here are a few quotes on which to meditate. Since setbacks are an inevitable part of life, it makes sense to have a strategy for dealing with them. Hopefully, the next time we cross paths with adversity, disappointment or seemingly unsurmountable obstacles, we’ll be better prepared to cope with them.
Turn Your Setbacks into Stepping Stones!
All you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press on to your destination.
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart,
All you who hope in the Lord.
(Psalm 31:24 NKJV)
Live the Life of Your Dreams
When you start living the life of your dreams, there will always be obstacles, doubters, mistakes and setbacks along the way. But with hard work, perseverance and self-belief there is no limit to what you can achieve.
Sorrow and strife comes to all persons. Mature people expect hardships and setbacks and patiently and determinedly work to accomplish their goals. Immature people lash out in anger and frustration when circumstances conspire to blunt their short-term objectives.
You know, everybody has setbacks in their life, and everybody falls short of whatever goals they might set for themselves. That’s part of living and coming to terms with who you are as a person.
