My Thinking Corner

(NB: Lady Cee aims to participate in this blog challenge on alternate Tuesdays)

We live in an age where information abounds. As bloggers we have a plethora of posts to choose from at the Reader. Bloggers we’ve chosen to follow, showcase their wares and at the click of our mouse we can access their thoughts on a variety of subjects. We have access to their creative endeavours. We have access to the inspirational or motivational quotes they wish to bring to our attention. We have access to valuable life lessons—all posted in a bid to influence, to encourage one another on our journey in life, on the path we tread towards our destiny.

And if we also happen to be members of Facebook, or signed up to Twitter, or any other social media platform, the scenario is repeated again and again.

Advice. Information. Words of wisdom. All for the taking.

Now lately I’ve been thinking about this vast fount of knowledge at our fingertips. And I’ve been asking myself a question: if I retained even a small measure of what I read, if I was regularly applying even one sound principle in my day-to-day experience, how different would my life be?

And so, I challenge you today dear reader to think about all that information you are consuming. Are you learning? Are you putting even one of those precious principles you so passionately endorse into daily practice?

Food for thought, don’t you think?

Are you applying your knowledge?

These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, home-owner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit—but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock.

Matthew 7:24-25 (The Message)

Reading furnishes the mind only with materials of knowledge; it is thinking that makes what we read ours.

John Locke

Knowledge is power? No. Knowledge on its own is nothing, but the application of useful knowledge, now that is powerful.

Rob Liano

No amount of reading or memorizing will make you successful in life. It is the understanding and application of wise thought that counts.

Bob Proctor

Knowledge without application is like a book that is never read.

Christopher Crawford

. . . start applying what you are learning. Remember, to learn and not to do is really not to learn. To know and not to do is really not to know.

Stephen R. Covey

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

James 1:22 (NKJV)

  1. If I applied an ounce of all the knowledge that I acquire each day into my life, I would have a treasure trove 🙂

    1. We still have that treasure trove Jacqueline, we just have to take the treasure out of the chest in which we’ve stored it – but I get your point! 🙂
