Thoughts are free from toll – William Camden

Last night as I considered what my theme should be about for today’s post, I suddenly thought, why not focus on thoughts and thinking itself? After all thoughts affect our emotions. Our emotions influence our decisions. Our decisions dictate our actions and these actions can produce our habits. Habits then form our character and our character determines our destiny.

As you can see, our predominant thoughts play a significant role in whether or not we achieve our goals, or fulfil our purpose. Thoughts can steer our lives towards success or shipwreck our hopes upon the rocks of negativity. And so, without further ado, today’s focus is on THOUGHTS/THINKING.

A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events and outcomes. It is a catalyst and it sparks extraordinary results.

(Wade Boggs)

As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives.

(Henry David Thoreau)

Change your thoughts and you change your world.

(Norman Vincent Peale)

“I insist on a lot of time being spent, almost every day, to just sit and think. That is very uncommon in American business. I read and think. So I do more reading and thinking, and make less impulse decisions than most people in business. I do it because I like this kind of life.”

(Warren Buffett)

I like to think of thoughts as living blossoms borne by the human tree.

(James Douglas)

Like success, failure is many things to many people. With Positive Mental Attitude, failure is a learning experience, a rung on the ladder, a plateau at which to get your thoughts in order and prepare to try again.

(W. Clement Stone)

One cannot think crooked and walk straight.

(Author Unknown)

“The soul becomes dyed with the colour of its thoughts.”

(Marcus Aurelius)

Thoughts are like an open ocean, they can either move you forward within its waves, or sink you under deep into its abyss.

(Anthony Liccione)

We are what our thoughts have made us; so take care about what you think. Words are secondary. Thoughts live; they travel far.

(Swami Vivekananda)

Question: Bearing in mind the above quote by Marcus Aurelius, if you were to assign your predominant thoughts a colour, what would it be and why?

  2. I love this! Lately I am working on being fully present in the moment and realized that it involves a lot of thinking–not of the past or the future but what is here and now. Thanks you for sharing this and I love the quotes as well 🙂
